An
LCFOA members meeting was held in conjunction with the ILC08 conference
and workshop in Chicago on Nov. 17. The
agenda
for the meeting included Pier Oddone, Barry
Barish, Marc Ross and Steve Holmes who provided an excellent overview of
the status and issues involved with the ILC and Fermi's Project X
programs. The format was interactive and gave us the opportunity to
discuss industrialization issues with senior management. Following the
public portion of the meeting, the LCFOA members discussed future
activities for the LCFOA and reviewed the membership status and
financial projections for the forum.

The
LCFOA held its fall membership meeting at Fermilab in parallel with the
ALCPG07 meetings. Fourteen companies, many sending two representatives,
attended from the LCFOA. The LCFOA members attended the plenary ALCPG
meetings along with over 300 registrants from around the world on
Monday, Oct 22. We also attended the afternoon regional reports by the
ILC regional directors in the early afternoon. Later in the day the
LCFOA held our members meeting in a breakout room where we had a
roundtable discussion sessions with Barry Barish, ILC GDE Director; Mike
Harrison, ILC Americas Regional Team Director and Jerry Blazey, DOE ILC
Program Manager. The LCFOA continued our breakout sessions on Tuesday
with talks by Fermilab’s Shekhar Mishra, Vic Kuchler, Elizabeth
Clements and Young-Kee Kim and SLAC’s Ray Larsen. For details on
the LCFOA sessions, please click
agenda.
You can click on selected talks on the
agenda to view copies of these presentations. The meeting
concluded with a private tour later in the day of Fermilab’s ILC test and cryomodule assembly areas.
The LCFOA made a major contribution to a Funding Agency For Large Colliders (FALC) study on the potential future applications of ILC technologies within other areas of the U.S. economy. The forum prepared a report focused on the uses of high gradient SCRF, high availability electronics and low cost detector devices within the commercial and military applications in time frames of five years and beyond. The ILC Technology Applications report can be obtained by clicking here. Much of the information was obtained during a workshop held on May 15, 2007 in the Washington, DC area. The FALC released a final report on ILC Technology Applications in Jan. 2008 which incorporated the LCFOA findings with inputs from the European and Asian regions can be obtained by clicking here.
The latest LCFOA general membership meeting was held in Washington, DC on Feb. 28 in room 2325 in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. We hosted several major speakers for this session, see the agenda.
Congressmen Nick
Lampson and Rush Holt also addressed the meeting which was attended by
60 representatives of government, academia, and industry. Presentations
have been posted on this web site, please see agenda for the menu of the
talks.
This meeting was attended by 52 industry representatives, 21 national Laboratory employees and DOE. The agenda and presentations are located at http://ilc.fnal.gov/documents/lcfoa_10_06.html.
